Latest Updates - Government Grants and Small Business Grants in Australia

One of the most overlooked parts of starting a small business is the potential for failure. No one purposefully goes into a new venture with the prospect of doom and gloom. However, sadly enough, the statistics of new business failures within the first two years remain historically in the 50% range. The reasons may vary, but the outcomes consistently result in a complete loss of capital and the default on any small business loans.

What seems most interesting with this statistic is that most of these failures could have been avoided with better fiscal planning, targeted training and a mentoring relationship with an expert in your field. Most entrepreneurs know from the very beginning that the risk of failure, at least from a statistical point of view, is high yet they ignore the subject all together.

History Repeats Itself To Those Who Ignore It

Much can be learned from the mistakes of others. Gaining access to this information should be every aspiring business owners first self imposed training program. The problem with this is knowing where to get access to this data and then knowing how best to break it down so that it is usable for you and your business. Going at this alone can be difficult and expensive.

Fortunately, due to the many government grants and federally backed small business loans in Australia there’s a much better way. The Australian government, working in partnership with state and regional offices allocates billions of dollars per year to the training, mentoring, and financial aid for any Australian starting a small business.

Investing In A Better Australia

By investing in Australian entrepreneurism they are investing in the future of the entire country and for good reason. Successful companies create job growth, technological innovations, and a much broader, revenue producing tax base. When you apply for grants or small business loans through one of these programs you inherit a team of experts whose primary goal is to make sure you succeed!

By providing your start up business with training, mentoring and financial assistance, they are making an investment in you they have skin in the game! This makes their counsel and analysis very credible. When starting a small business, having these experts reviewing your business plan, operational costs and targeted market is invaluable and can mean the difference between success and failure.

When determining capital requirements, often the scrutiny is directed more towards making sure you have enough cash to get you through the slow business cycles. This is typical when applying for small business loans and can mean the difference between success and failure. Combine this with exceptional training and mentoring for you and your employees and suddenly the prospect of starting a small business doesn’t seem so overwhelming after all.

Latest Updates - Government Grants and Small Business Grants in Australia

If you are starting a small business the Australian government is currently sponsoring numerous initiatives that provide funding for small business loans, training within your industry, and mentoring from qualified business experts. At both the state and federal level, these sponsored programs are designed to keep Australian businesses, their employees and upstart entrepreneurs with the financing and training necessary to compete in both global and domestic economies.

These programs are funded either 100% or partially in the form of grants or federally guaranteed loans all over the country in both metro and rural locations. Billions of dollars per year are allocated to these programs proving Australia’s strong commitment to innovation in business, excellence in employee training, and tremendous financial assistance for small business loans.

Starting A Small Business

Starting a small business can seem overwhelming and a little scary as you consider all the components that have to go into a well structured business plan. Many entrepreneurs start out with a great idea to market, or in many cases, they’re simply highly skilled at their craft. The additional responsibilities and knowledge required in starting a small business from the ground up can be uncharted territory if you’ve never done it before. By participating in one of the many programs available, you can take advantage of expert counsel, fully funded in most cases, to help ensure your success.

Small Business Loans

Whenever you apply for a grant or a federally insured loan, expert assistance is provided for better determining your capital requirements and operating costs. If the government is going to invest in you, obviously they want to make sure your business is successful. This is one of the often overlooked, yet incredibly valuable benefits of seeking grants or loan packages through these government initiatives. Small business loans can then be customized to meet a sound and logical business plan often with very competitive and favorable terms.

Training and Mentoring Programs

As part of Australia’s commitment to business, training programs in all forms are available, often at no charge, for business owners and workers. These classes are constantly changing, schedules may vary, and in most cases registrations can be limited. It’s important to have a knowledgeable advisor to help find and apply for these as they are scheduled.

Additionally, the mentoring programs are essential. It’s difficult to be an expert in every facet of your companies operation. Knowing what you don’t know is key to understanding the value in the mentoring programs that are available. Training for you and your staff, as well as expert mentoring are essential to running a successful and profitable company.

As part of its efforts to improve the state of the economy and the overall development of the country, the Australian Government offers grants for research and development to criteria-matching businesses. These grants are not supposed to be repaid and they are generally awarded on a first-come-first-served basis (for eligible businesses only).

The reason the government gives away these grants is the simple fact that it understands the importance of research in the development of the economy. The government grants for research and development contribute to raising productivity as well as the living standards of the Australian population. Basically, the research and development grants are intended to encourage and help both individuals and companies to continue and enhance their research activities in a variety of fields.

Research and development grants vary from medical research to studies meant to reduce the poverty levels of the country. There are several agencies that specialise in research grants and one of the most important of them is AusAID. This is an aid programme that supports all types of research that have as a main objective the achievement of sustainable social development and the reduction of poverty in all regions of the country. Some of the research grants available through AusAID include
the Human Rights Research Grants and the Australian Development Research Awards.

Academic excellence in various research fields is rewarded with a series of government grants provided by the National Competitive Grants Program, which is developed by the Australian Research Council. This is a programme that funds research activities in a variety of fields, ranging from biotechnology to earth sciences and humanities. The government grants are awarded on a yearly basis, after a panel of global research experts review carefully each application. The aim of this programme is to nurture the skills and creative abilities of the best researchers from a wide range of Australian educational institutions.

Latest Updates - Government Grants and Small Business Grants in Australia

The Australian Government understands that it is generally difficult to start a business without an initial capital. For this reason, it offers alternatives to potential business owners who may lack the funds for starting their own business.

The Australian Government awards a variety of grants in order to offer financial assistance for start-up businesses. Government grants are not loans, so in the majority of the cases you will not need to pay any of the funds back. You should however be aware of the fact that typically, government grants are mainly available for educational and non-profit agencies. In some cases though, you can still benefit from these grants for start-up ventures with commercial purposes.

As the small business grants offered by the Australian government are not in very high numbers, the competition for getting them is fierce and you should be prepared for that. The selection process is a stringent one and the governmental agency that offers grants will want to have a careful look over your business plan and mission statement.

If you decide to take government grants or green loans for starting a business in Australia, you should have a look at the options offered by the Department of Regional Australia, Regional Development and Local Government. This is the main department of the government that deals with the matter of business grants.

The government is interested in offering grants to start-up businesses that will contribute to the development of the local community. If you’re looking to apply for a particular type of grant, you should conduct a thorough research on that specific grant. In many cases, potential business owners looking to provide a particular type of service in a given community are more likely to get a grant than others. This is the reason why you need to know well in advance what the governmental reviewers are looking for in a candidate in order to increase your chances of receiving a grant.

The Australian government provides financial support for businesses in order to help them start up, develop and succeed, make innovations, overcome economic challenges and become visible internationally. There are several modalities through which the government offers assistance for businesses. The most common ones are through advice, information, guidance, training and grants.

By offering assistance for the development of existing business, the Australian government supports the local and regional economy that benefits communities. If you are a business owner struggling to develop your business or if you would like to add an innovative twist to your existing business, you should take advantage of the support offered by the Australian government.

Besides applying for government business grants, you can also grow your business by taking part coaching and network programmes. Coaching programmes are created by the government to help your business develop by suggesting improvements that will assist your business in achieving its full potential.

Another way to improve your business is networking with other people who activate in the same industry as you do. The government supports various associations that for business network through trade associations and educational establishments. If you’re interested in a coaching programme or a networking event, you can easily find them with the Events Calendar tool on the website of the Australian Government.

The government also offers assistance for those looking to get financial help for their businesses. As an important step for getting business grants is coming up with a good business plan, you can use some of the planning tools implemented by the government. These tools will help you review your business plan or update your current marketing plan.

Latest Updates - Government Grants and Small Business Grants in Australia

It is not easy to find the necessary money for a start-up business. Banks are often reluctant to give loans to people who are not yet in business and it is difficult to fund everything from personal savings. An alternative to bank loans are government grants for new businesses.

The main advantage of these is that they are non-refundable, so you will not need to pay back any money after establishing your business. The only downside of getting such grants are that they are only available for a range of industries.

One of the schemes you can access for government business grants for start-ups is the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme. This is a governmental programme that offers training for small businesses, mentoring and on-going income support for up to a year. The scheme is developed by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.

In order to be eligible to participate in this scheme, you need to meet some requirements. Some of them include being over 18 at the time of enrolment, not being an undischarged bankrupt and bot having received similar assistance for another business activity. You can access the scheme in all regions of Australia, including rural areas. You can easily find your local NEIS provider by visiting the official website of the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.

If you’re looking to start a business in Australia, it’s worth looking at some of the regional start-up business grants that are offered by local governments. Generally, you need to prove your business will benefit the local community before getting a grant from a state or territory authority. Not all types of businesses qualify for business grants, so you should first check if your idea is eligible for receiving non-refundable financial help from the government.

Latest Updates - Government Grants and Small Business Grants in Australia

The Australian government offers a range of grants for business in many sectors and one of the most competitive ones is farming. Agriculture is a key element of the Australian economy and thus there are many government grants available at both regional and national levels. Many farmers face difficulties in developing their business because this is a sector where one needs to invest in
expensive facilities and equipment. If you are eligible for Australian government grants, it should not be difficult to find a program suitable for the needs of your business.

A good way to begin the process for getting farming government grants in Australia is learning the basics of filling out applications and finding where you can get professional grant help.

First, you need to decide the purpose for which you will be requiring a grant. There are farming grants available for research, development of innovative products, education and improved farming processes. It is important to know that grants only come in certain amounts, so you should come up with a plan to fund your project after the grant money is no longer available. This should be included in your application, as the government is generally interested in long-term programs.

The next step for getting farming government grants in Australia is writing a grant proposal. You can either do this yourself or you can hire a specialist to take care of all your paperwork. A proposal for a government grant should be written in a clear language and it needs to reflect the way a grant will enhance your existing business and how it will benefit the local community. Make sure you respect all the requirements when filling out your application and keep in mind that most grants have deadlines for applications, so make sure you don’t miss them.

The Australian film industry is renowned for its unique flavour and innovation techniques that have great success both at home and abroad. In the last decades, a range of Australian actors, writers, producers and directors have attracted international acclaim. In 2007, the Australian animated production “Happy Feet 2″ won an Academy Award.

The key ingredients of the Australian film industry are its highly-skilled technical crews, outstanding studio facilities and the impressive diversity of the landscape. As film industry is an important part of the Australian culture and it promotes national values both home and abroad, the government supports it financially by providing assistance to training bodies and tax incentives to investors from the private sector.

Film industry is also supported through direct government funding, which represents over a fifth of the total funding for Australian productions every year. The most important agency for film and television programmes funding in Australia is the Film Finance Corporation. This is a government agency that supports independent film productions that promote the Australian cultural identity. The Film Finance Corporation also finances television productions and diverse documentaries.

Australian government grants related to development and screen culture are awarded by the Australian Film Commission, which aims to support the creation and preservation of national audio visual content. This government agency promotes audio visual content to Australian audiences and manages international co-production programs.

Getting government grants for films in Australia is a process that involves a good amount of research. This may be a challenging process because of the high number of applicants for each grant. Submitting a good film proposal and a realistic financial plan within the specified deadlines are the ingredients of being successful in obtaining such a grant. Even though the application process can be intimidating, in the end it is worth the trouble, as government grants for film are non-refundable.
